IndiGo is preparing to enter a new phase of long-haul travel with the introduction of lie-flat business class seats aboard its upcoming Airbus A350-900 fleet. CEO Willie Walsh has confirmed that the cabin configuration for the airline’s first 10 A350-900 aircraft has been finalised, marking a significant step in its international expansion plans.
The aircraft will feature 16 lie-flat business class seats, alongside dedicated premium economy and economy cabins. The new configuration will give passengers a wider range of travel options, including a more comfortable experience for long-haul journeys.
IndiGo expects its first Airbus A350-900 aircraft to join the fleet in the second quarter of 2028. The aircraft are expected to play an important role in expanding the airline’s long-distance international network and supporting services to destinations beyond its existing reach.
The introduction of lie-flat business class represents a major development for IndiGo, which has traditionally focused on a low-cost operating model. With the A350-900, the airline is preparing to strengthen its offering in the premium travel market while expanding its presence in long-haul international aviation.
