Israel Approves New Fighter Squadron Expansion Plan.

Israel has approved a major defense procurement plan to significantly expand the capabilities of the Israeli Air Force, with the addition of two new fighter squadrons as part of a long-term modernization strategy.

The plan includes the acquisition of an advanced F-35 Lightning II squadron from Lockheed Martin and an F-15IA squadron from Boeing. These aircraft are expected to enhance both stealth strike capabilities and long-range heavy payload operations, strengthening the country’s overall airpower mix.

Valued at tens of billions of Israeli shekels, the procurement is part of a broader force buildup program aimed at maintaining air superiority and improving operational readiness over the coming decade. The addition of next-generation platforms reflects a continued focus on adapting to evolving regional security challenges.

Officials indicate that the combination of the stealth-focused F-35 and the high-performance F-15IA will provide the Israeli Air Force with greater flexibility across a wide range of missions, from precision strikes to air dominance operations.
