QantasLink A220 Debuts From Cairns Airport.

Qantas and Cairns Airport celebrated a major milestone today with the first-ever departure of a QantasLink Airbus A220 from Cairns. The launch marks another step in the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization program across regional Australia.

The aircraft featured the eye-catching “Minyma Kutjara Tjukurpa” livery, which honors Indigenous culture and storytelling through a unique design inspired by traditional art. The special livery stood out against the scenic backdrop of Mount Whitfield during the historic departure.

QantasLink’s Airbus A220 fleet is expected to play a key role in enhancing passenger comfort and operational efficiency on regional routes. The modern aircraft offers quieter cabins, improved fuel efficiency, and upgraded onboard features compared to older-generation regional jets currently in service.

The milestone departure also highlights the growing importance of Cairns within Qantas’ regional network, while showcasing the airline’s commitment to celebrating Australian heritage alongside the introduction of next-generation aircraft.
