Qatar Airways Ends A380 Service on Routes.

Qatar Airways has gradually reduced the use of its Airbus A380 aircraft as the airline continues to reshape its long-haul network and modernize its fleet. The Doha-based carrier once relied heavily on the double-decker aircraft for several high-capacity international routes from Hamad International Airport, but recent schedule adjustments show a shift toward more fuel-efficient aircraft.

According to aviation data comparing historical operations between 2014 and 2025 with the airline’s planned 2026 schedule, several destinations that previously received regular A380 flights are no longer served by the superjumbo. Instead, the airline is increasingly deploying modern wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 on many long-haul routes.

Industry analysts say the move reflects a broader trend among global airlines that are gradually retiring or limiting A380 operations due to high operating costs and changing passenger demand patterns. Airlines are now prioritizing smaller but more efficient aircraft that provide greater flexibility in scheduling and route planning.

While the A380 still operates on selected high-demand routes, Qatar Airways is expected to continue optimizing its fleet strategy in the coming years as it focuses on efficiency, sustainability, and network expansion across major global markets.
