Raja Bhoj International Airport in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, has achieved a significant milestone, recording over 1.5 lakh passengers in just 30 days. This marks the first time in the airport’s history that such a high number of passenger footfalls has been recorded in a single month. The airport has seen a steady rise in traffic, with the January 2024 figures surpassing 1.5 lakh passengers, further establishing its growing prominence in India’s aviation sector.

In addition to this impressive monthly record, Raja Bhoj Airport has crossed the 1.5 crore passenger mark for the current financial year 2024-25. This is a notable increase compared to the previous financial year, when the airport recorded 1 crore 20 lakh passengers. The rise in passenger numbers is indicative of both increased demand and improved connectivity at the airport, which serves as a key hub for the central region of India.

The surge in air traffic coincides with Bhopal’s role as a focal point for major events, such as the recently held Global Investors Summit. On February 24, more than 50 chartered flights and 32 regular aircraft were operated to accommodate the influx of delegates and business leaders. During this period, the airport saw a significant jump in passenger numbers, with 6,273 recorded on just Sunday and Monday.

Raja Bhoj International Airport’s growth reflects the increasing importance of regional airports in India’s expanding aviation landscape. The airport’s capacity to handle such a large volume of passengers highlights its role in facilitating both business and tourism travel, making Bhopal a more accessible destination for travelers.
