Riyadh Air, the upcoming Saudi Arabian carrier set to begin operations in 2025, is reportedly exploring partnerships with leading Indian airlines, Air India and IndiGo. This strategic move aims to strengthen Riyadh Air’s foothold in the rapidly expanding Indian aviation market.

Air India and IndiGo, with a combined fleet exceeding 700 aircraft, dominate the Indian skies. A potential partnership with either or both carriers would provide Riyadh Air with increased connectivity and access to one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation sectors. Such collaborations could facilitate seamless passenger transfers, expand route networks, and boost operational efficiency between India and Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh Air, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, plans to position itself as a premium airline offering global connectivity. By partnering with established Indian carriers, Riyadh Air seeks to capitalize on the high demand for travel between India and the Middle East while aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative to diversify its economy and expand its aviation sector.

Industry experts believe that such partnerships would be mutually beneficial. Riyadh Air would gain a stronger market presence and customer base in India, while Air India and IndiGo could leverage new routes and increased passenger flow to enhance their Middle Eastern operations.

As Riyadh Air prepares for its 2025 launch, discussions with major Indian airlines highlight the airline’s ambition to establish itself as a key player in the global aviation industry.
