Madhya Pradesh is taking significant strides in improving its air connectivity with the upcoming launch of flights from the newly upgraded Satna Airport, the state’s 7th operational airport. The new air service will enhance regional travel by connecting Satna to major cities within the state, including Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Singrauli. This move is part of the broader initiative to boost regional air connectivity under the government’s regional flight service program.
MP Ganesh Singh announced that flights between Satna and key destinations like Bhopal will begin shortly, reducing travel time between the two cities to just two hours. This development marks a milestone for Satna, which has historically been home to an airstrip built in 1962. Although the airstrip has seen some limited use over the years, it lacked the infrastructure and facilities to function as a full-fledged airport. However, recent efforts have modernized the facility to meet the requirements of regional air travel.
During a recent inspection of the airport, MP Ganesh Singh reviewed the terminal building and other facilities at the site. He highlighted that Satna’s inclusion in the Prime Minister’s initiative to develop 100 regional airports across the country was a major turning point. Singh also extended an invitation to the Union Civil Aviation Minister and the Chief Minister to attend the inauguration ceremony, eagerly awaiting the confirmation of the official launch date.
With the inauguration of Satna Airport, the state’s aviation infrastructure is set to improve significantly, offering faster and more convenient air travel for residents and visitors. The new flights are expected to promote economic growth in the region by improving connectivity for both business and tourism.
