Saudi Arabian aviation authorities have imposed fines totaling SR19 million for various violations related to air travel and safety regulations, as reported by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). In total, GACA issued 542 decisions on violations recorded in 2024, underscoring the authorities’ strict stance on maintaining safety and compliance in the aviation sector.

A significant portion of the fines, amounting to SR18.8 million, were levied on airlines and individuals involved in violations. Among these, 74 violations were related to passengers failing to adhere to air safety instructions and behavior rules aboard aircraft. These infractions resulted in fines totaling SR79,200.

In addition, GACA reported that 111 violations were recorded against air carriers for non-compliance with the advance passenger registration system and failure to follow assigned time slots. These violations alone led to fines of SR3.6 million. Further penalties totaling SR290,000 were imposed on air carriers for nine additional violations.

The actions taken by GACA reflect the Saudi authorities’ commitment to ensuring safety and operational efficiency within the aviation sector. The fines serve as a reminder to airlines and passengers alike of the importance of adhering to aviation regulations, particularly concerning safety and operational protocols.

With the increase in air travel demand, the imposition of these fines highlights the need for continuous vigilance and strict enforcement to uphold safety standards and avoid disruptions within the aviation industry in Saudi Arabia.
