Scoot leads global low-emissions airline ranking.

Scoot has emerged as the world’s lowest-emissions airline in 2025, according to a new global study by Cirium, marking a major milestone for Southeast Asia’s aviation sector.

The airline, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, also made history as the first carrier from the region to top the global rankings. It overtook Wizz Air, which held the leading position in 2024.

The study evaluated the world’s 100 largest scheduled passenger airlines based on carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions per seat per kilometre — a key metric that reflects fuel efficiency and environmental performance. Scoot’s top ranking highlights its strong operational efficiency and modern fleet strategy.

Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines secured the second position within Southeast Asia, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and lower emissions. The rankings underscore the growing focus of airlines worldwide on reducing their environmental footprint amid increasing pressure for greener aviation practices.
