For siblings Wahengbam Sureiya and Rohit Singh from Manipur, aviation has become more than just a profession. Growing up eight years apart in Imphal, Rohit watched his elder sister become the first in their family to enter aviation as cabin crew in 2014. Her stories from different flights and destinations eventually inspired him to follow the same path and join Air India.
Today, both siblings wear the Air India uniform and share the unique challenges of cabin-crew life, including long-haul flights, changing rosters and airport standby duties. Working in the same airline has brought them even closer, as they understand each other’s demanding schedules without needing much explanation.
Their bond also shines through in small moments. They sometimes meet during standby duties, share cab rides home and catch up after flights. Sureiya still checks whether Rohit has eaten, while Rohit says a simple call from his sister can make him feel at home even when he is flying far away.
What began with an elder sister inspiring her younger brother has now become a shared journey in the skies — proving that sometimes, the person who inspires your biggest dream can also end up becoming your closest colleague.
