Southwest Launches ‘Ohana Rewards in Hawaii.

Southwest Airlines has introduced its new ‘Ohana Rewards program for Hawaii residents, allowing travelers to earn a free interisland flight after just four one-way trips. The program, launched on April 28, 2026, is free for Rapid Rewards members with a Hawaii address.

Under the scheme, passengers earn a minimum of 1,000 points per one-way flight, with award tickets starting at 4,000 points—effectively making every fifth flight free. The airline also continues to offer two free checked bags, including sports gear like surfboards and golf clubs, within limits.

Members will receive quarterly discount codes offering up to 25% off points bookings or reduced fares on cash tickets. The move aims to revive the convenience of traditional island travel deals while strengthening customer loyalty.

The expansion comes amid growing competition in Hawaii’s interisland market, where Hawaiian Airlines is also targeting local travelers with dedicated loyalty programs, shifting focus from fares to added benefits.
