Passengers aboard a recent Southwest Airlines flight were treated to an unexpected mid-air performance when American pop-rock band Plain White T’s performed their hit song Hey There Delilah inside the aircraft cabin.
The surprise concert celebrated the 15th anniversary of Southwest’s “Live at 35” program, an initiative that brings live music performances to passengers while cruising at 35,000 feet. The Plain White T’s were among the first artists to participate when the program launched, making their return especially meaningful.
Passengers joined in singing the band’s iconic 2007 chart-topping hit, which has recently gained renewed popularity through social media platforms. The performance created a unique atmosphere onboard, blending nostalgia for longtime fans with excitement for younger travelers familiar with the song online.
Lead singer Tom Higgenson described the experience as unforgettable, while Southwest confirmed that more surprise onboard performances are planned as the airline celebrates its 55th year of service.
