Three Nigerian men who allegedly attempted to board a flight to Dubai while disguised as Arab women have gone viral again on social media. However, the incident is not recent and did not happen at Dubai International Airport, despite misleading online posts.
The case actually took place in February 2022 at an airport in Algeria. According to authorities, the men wore abayas, hijabs, face veils, and heavy makeup in an apparent attempt to conceal their identities while trying to board a Dubai-bound flight.
Airport security officers became suspicious during routine screening and conducted additional checks, revealing that all three travellers were men. They were detained before boarding the aircraft.
The photos have recently resurfaced online with false claims linking the incident to Dubai. Fact-checkers confirmed the arrests took place in Algeria before the flight departed.
