Udan Yatri Cafe at Kolkata Airport: Budget-Friendly Delight.

The Udan Yatri Cafe at Kolkata Airport has quickly become a favorite spot for travelers, both passengers and airport staff, who are thrilled with its budget-friendly offerings. Launched as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on December 21, 2024, the cafe has garnered attention for its unique initiative to provide affordable food options for travelers.

The cafe was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) as a pilot project, aimed at making airport amenities more accessible to all. This budget-conscious cafe serves a variety of simple yet satisfying food options at remarkably low prices. For instance, passengers can purchase a water bottle or a cup of tea for just Rs 10 each. Additionally, samosas, coffee, and a sweet of the day are available for only Rs 20, making it an attractive choice for anyone looking for a quick snack or refreshment during their journey.

The launch has been met with overwhelming positivity from passengers who are excited to see such an initiative at an airport. Dharmendra Joshi, a traveler who spoke to IANS, expressed his joy, saying, “This is a dream come true for many passengers like me.” He shared his surprise, adding that he had never seen such a budget-friendly initiative at an airport in the country before. Joshi, who purchased four water bottles and four samosas for just Rs 120, praised the initiative as a much-needed relief for budget-conscious travelers.

He further stated, “It’s a very welcome decision by the Civil Aviation Ministry. Other airports in the country should follow this model,” showing his support for the idea and its potential to be replicated at other airports across India.

The launch of the Udan Yatri Cafe not only brings joy to travelers but also highlights a commitment to providing affordable, quality options for passengers, ensuring that the experience at Kolkata Airport is as pleasant and budget-friendly as possible. This initiative may well set a precedent for other airports to adopt similar models, fostering a more inclusive and traveler-friendly atmosphere nationwide.
