US Weighs Anti-Drone Lasers for Security.

The United States is considering deploying advanced anti-drone laser systems to enhance security around key officials following recent aerial threats. According to reports, unidentified drones were detected earlier this month over Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, D.C., raising concerns about the safety of senior leadership.

The Pentagon is evaluating the installation of high-powered laser-based counter-drone systems at the military base, where Pete Hegseth and Marco Rubio are reported to reside. The move is part of broader efforts to strengthen defenses against low-altitude aerial threats.

Officials indicated that the proposal remains under consideration, with discussions ongoing about feasibility and effectiveness. The potential deployment reflects growing concerns over increased drone activity in sensitive areas, particularly amid heightened geopolitical tensions linked to the Iran conflict tensions.

If implemented, the system could mark a significant step in integrating directed-energy weapons into domestic security infrastructure, offering rapid-response capabilities against emerging drone threats.
