A powerful tribute illuminated New York Harbor on September 9, as 2,977 drones formed the Twin Towers at full architectural scale ahead of the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Each light represented one person killed in the attacks.
The installation, titled “2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor,” first saw the lights gather in a swirling helix before gradually transforming into the iconic towers. The project was developed with input from victims’ families, survivors and first responders.
The emotional display served as a tribute to those who lost their lives and a symbol of remembrance and resilience, ahead of the official 25th-anniversary commemorations on September 11.
