Russia is intensifying its outreach to India’s rapidly expanding aviation sector by pitching a broader portfolio of civil aircraft. Moving beyond regional planes, Moscow is now offering modern narrow body and long-range jets aimed at serving India’s busiest domestic and international routes. The move signals Russia’s ambition to become a long-term aviation partner as Indian airlines expand at record pace.

Expanded Aircraft Portfolio
Russia has widened its offer from regional aircraft to include the MS-21 narrowbody jet and the long-range Tu-214, alongside the SJ-100 regional jet and Il-114 turboprop.

Focus on High-Density Routes
The MS-21 is being positioned as a cost-efficient option for India’s high-traffic domestic routes, competing in the same segment as popular single-aisle aircraft.

Long-Range Connectivity
The Tu-214 is proposed as a solution for medium- to long-haul international services, supporting India’s growing global air connectivity.

Cost and Strategic Appeal
Russian aircraft are being marketed as economically attractive alternatives, with potential benefits in pricing, financing flexibility, and industrial cooperation.

Full-Spectrum Aviation Partnership
By offering aircraft across multiple categories, Russia aims to align with India’s long-term fleet expansion plans and strengthen bilateral aerospace ties.

This push comes at a time when Indian airlines are rapidly adding new aircraft, opening routes, and scaling operations to meet surging passenger demand.
