An Indian national was killed after an Iranian drone and missile attack struck Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday, marking a tragic development in the escalating tensions across the Gulf region. The attack caused significant damage to airport infrastructure, including a passenger terminal, and left dozens of people injured.

In a statement posted on X, the Embassy of India in Kuwait expressed its deepest condolences to the victim’s family. The embassy said it is in close contact with the bereaved relatives and is coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities to provide all possible assistance and support to those affected by the incident.

According to Kuwaiti officials, Iranian drones and missiles targeted civilian infrastructure, causing heavy damage to Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport. The attack led to the temporary suspension of airport operations and flight diversions before services gradually resumed. Reports indicate that at least one person was killed and dozens more were injured in the strike.

The incident comes amid renewed military tensions between Iran and the United States despite ongoing ceasefire efforts. The U.S. military said it intercepted multiple drones aimed at American forces in Kuwait, while missiles directed toward Kuwait either fell short or broke apart during flight. U.S. and Bahraini forces also intercepted aerial threats targeting Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet.

In response, U.S. forces launched strikes against an Iranian military ground-control facility on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Both Washington and Tehran have described their actions as retaliatory, raising concerns that the latest escalation could further undermine fragile efforts to maintain regional stability.
