Passengers at Sochi International Airport have been forced to camp inside the terminal after widespread flight disruptions and cancellations caused major delays.

With more than 70 departing flights delayed, many by nearly 12 hours, travelers have spent over a day waiting for their flights. Images from the airport show passengers sleeping on the floor, while others have set up tents in the waiting areas as they await updated departure times.

According to the airport’s official updates, airspace restrictions were imposed five times within a 24-hour period on June 28, significantly affecting flight operations and leading to a backlog of departures.

The repeated restrictions disrupted schedules throughout the day, leaving thousands of passengers stranded inside the terminal. Airport staff continue to assist affected travelers, while airlines work to reschedule delayed services as operational conditions improve.

The incident highlights how temporary airspace restrictions can quickly impact airport operations, causing widespread delays and significant inconvenience for passengers.
