Etihad Airways has launched its first passenger service to Western Canada, introducing direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Calgary. The route began on October 25, 2026, ahead of its originally planned launch date of November 3.
The inaugural flight, EY29, departed Zayed International Airport at 2:27 a.m. and arrived at Calgary International Airport at 7:45 a.m., where it received a traditional water cannon welcome.
Etihad will operate the route four times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner configured with 303 seats.
Calgary becomes Etihad’s second Canadian destination after Toronto. The new service offers travellers convenient access to the Canadian Rockies while providing passengers from Alberta with direct connections to Abu Dhabi and onward destinations across India, Pakistan and the wider Gulf region.
