Alaska Airlines has unveiled its 19th Fallen Soldier Cart at Salt Lake City International Airport, continuing its long-running initiative to provide dignified transportation for deceased U.S. military personnel.
Designed and built by Alaska Airlines’ Maintenance & Engineering team in partnership with the airport, the custom cart is available for use by all airlines operating at Salt Lake City, ensuring active-duty service members, veterans, and retired military personnel receive respectful transfers to and from aircraft.
The newly unveiled cart features the airport’s SLC code, American flag curtains, red carpet flooring, a metal silhouette of the Salt Lake City skyline, the Utah state flag, and emblems representing all six branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.
During the ceremony, program founder Brian Bowden said the airline’s goal is to place a Fallen Soldier Cart at every airport it serves. To mark the occasion, Alaska Airlines also showcased its specially painted Boeing 737 “Honoring Those Who Serve” aircraft.
Launched in 2011 by Alaska Airlines employees, the Fallen Soldier Program follows military protocols to ensure fallen service members are transported with dignity while supporting their families during their final journey.
