Southwest Airlines celebrated America’s 250th anniversary by showcasing its specially painted Boeing 737 MAX 8, “Independence One,” at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in Oshkosh.
The aircraft arrived on 22 July carrying Southwest employees who have served in the US military, along with family members of veterans. Together, those onboard represented more than 1,300 combined years of military service, making the flight a special tribute to those who have worn the nation’s uniform.
After landing, Independence One was displayed at Boeing Plaza, one of the event’s most prominent exhibition areas, where hundreds of thousands of aviation enthusiasts had the opportunity to view the patriotic aircraft up close.
The appearance highlighted Southwest Airlines’ recognition of military service while celebrating a major milestone in American history at one of the world’s largest aviation gatherings.
