SpiceJet employees at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport have reportedly threatened an indefinite strike over delayed salary payments, with some staff claiming that salary payments have been inconsistent since October 2025 and that payments for three months remain pending.
Sources said some SpiceJet security personnel allegedly stopped reporting for duty around 10 p.m. on August 9. They reportedly resumed work around 1 a.m. on August 10 after senior officials assured them that their salaries would be credited within a day.
The employees handle important airport functions, including baggage segregation and security-related duties for several international airlines operating from Bengaluru. Photos reportedly showed bags accumulating in the baggage make-up area during the disruption.
However, SpiceJet strongly denied that any flash strike took place, saying its Bengaluru operations remained completely normal. The airline said May salaries had already been paid to junior and support staff, while payments for remaining employees were being released in phases.
Employees have reportedly warned that they could consider an indefinite strike if salary delays continue.
