Before becoming an airline with a single-type fleet, airBaltic operated a wide variety of aircraft over the years, including Fokker 50s, Boeing 737s, Avro RJ70s and Saab 340s.

In 2008, Boeing 757s were also introduced to provide additional capacity on selected routes. Later, DHC-8-Q400s replaced the Fokker 50s, but all 12 Q400s were grounded during the Covid-19 pandemic and never returned to airBaltic service.

Today, airBaltic operates a fleet of more than 50 aircraft consisting entirely of Airbus A220-300s. The type forms the backbone of its network, while several aircraft are also regularly leased to airlines including Swiss, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Air Serbia.

However, the airline is currently reducing its fleet from 54 aircraft to 36 by the end of 2026, with plans to gradually increase the fleet to around 40 aircraft by 2029.
