A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 experienced an airspeed issue during takeoff from Munich Airport, according to a preliminary report by the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority.

During Flight VN34 from Runway 26L, the aircraft’s airspeed reportedly stopped increasing for around two seconds near the midpoint of the runway. The speed later reached V1 before decreasing, leaving the crew with insufficient runway remaining to safely reject the takeoff.

The crew continued the departure and rotated the aircraft approximately 91 metres from the end of the runway. After becoming airborne, the pilots received tail-scrape and tire-pressure warnings and decided to return to Munich.

The aircraft involved was Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 VN-A867. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident to determine the cause of the abnormal airspeed indication and the subsequent warnings.
