In a major boost to indigenous defence manufacturing, Adani Defence and Aerospace has delivered the first batch of 2,000 ‘Prahar’ light machine guns to the Indian Army under the Make in India programme 🇮🇳.
The 7.62 mm-calibre weapons have been produced in partnership with Israel Weapon Industries and are part of a larger order exceeding 40,000 guns. Notably, the delivery has been completed 11 months ahead of schedule, reflecting improved efficiency in domestic defence production.
The handover took place at the company’s small arms manufacturing complex in Gwalior, where senior officials flagged off the first consignment. The development marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence capabilities.
With more deliveries expected in the coming months, the project underscores India’s focus on modernising its armed forces with advanced, locally produced weapon systems.
