Air India co-pilot deported from US.

An Air India co-pilot was deported from the United States after marijuana was allegedly found in his baggage at San Francisco International Airport. The incident occurred on April 14, 2026, after he arrived from Delhi.

According to reports, the pilot was “deadheading” and not operating the flight when US authorities discovered the substance during a routine baggage check. He was subsequently deemed inadmissible under local laws and deported.

The airline confirmed the incident, stating the crew member has been derostered and an internal investigation has been initiated. Directorate General of Civil Aviation has also been informed.

Air India reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward legal violations, as the case raises concerns over compliance and conduct among airline crew during international operations.
