Air India flight AI2802 operating from Bengaluru to Delhi declared a full emergency at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday night after the cockpit crew received a warning of a possible engine fire during the aircraft’s final approach.

The Airbus A320 aircraft, carrying 171 passengers, landed safely on runway 29R at around 9:30 pm. Airport authorities later towed the aircraft away for inspection while runway operations resumed normally at 10:18 pm.

According to Air India, the cockpit warning was later confirmed to be a genuine engine fire indication. The flight crew immediately followed all standard safety procedures and safely completed the landing without any injuries or emergency evacuation.

The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members safely disembarked after arrival. Air India also stated that a detailed investigation has been launched in coordination with aviation regulatory authorities to determine the exact cause of the incident.

In its official statement, the airline emphasized that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority and assured that further verified information will be shared once the investigation progresses.
