At the ILA Berlin Air Show 2026, Airbus and Lufthansa Group celebrated 50 years of partnership, marking five decades since Lufthansa received its first Airbus A300 aircraft in 1976.
As part of the milestone celebrations, the two companies announced a new A220 component-services agreement aimed at enhancing fleet support and operational efficiency. The agreement further strengthens the long-standing relationship between the airline group and the aircraft manufacturer.
The companies also confirmed that Lufthansa Group is expected to take delivery of its 700th Airbus aircraft later this year, highlighting the scale of their collaboration over the past five decades. The milestone reflects Lufthansa’s position as one of Airbus’ largest and most important customers.
In addition, Airbus and Lufthansa are continuing to work on sustainability and efficiency initiatives, including the implementation of SharkSkin technology on Airbus A330 aircraft. The innovative surface film is designed to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency, supporting the aviation industry’s efforts to lower emissions and operating costs.
