Squadron Leader Bhawana Kanth of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has made history by becoming the first woman fighter pilot to successfully complete the prestigious Fighter Combat Leader (FCL) course at the Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE), one of India’s leading advanced air-combat training centres.
Commissioned into the IAF in 2016, Kanth was among the country’s first women fighter pilots. Throughout her career, she has continued to break barriers, including taking part in operational combat missions and flying during Republic Day flypasts.
The demanding FCL course involves advanced air-combat tactics, mission planning, tactical decision-making and leadership skills. Successfully completing the course represents a significant achievement and reflects the high level of training and operational expertise required of India’s fighter pilots.
Kanth’s latest accomplishment highlights the growing role of women in advanced combat and leadership positions within the Indian Air Force. Her achievement is being seen as another important milestone for women pursuing careers in India’s military aviation and defence sectors.
