A Delta Air Lines aircraft experienced a tense moment at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Sunday evening when its left wing struck the runway during landing. The incident occurred around 10:10 p.m., prompting the flight crew to perform a go-around, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The FAA reported that the plane’s left wing made contact with the runway as it attempted to land. In response, the pilots immediately executed a go-around—a standard safety maneuver where the aircraft aborts its landing approach and climbs back to a safe altitude to attempt another landing.

Despite the wing strike, the aircraft was able to circle back and land safely on a subsequent attempt. There were no immediate reports of injuries among the passengers or crew. Delta Air Lines has not yet provided additional details on the cause of the incident or the aircraft’s condition.

The FAA has launched an investigation to determine the factors leading to the wing strike. Incidents involving go-arounds are considered routine in aviation and are performed to ensure passenger safety in cases where landing conditions are not ideal.

Operations at LaGuardia Airport remained unaffected, with flights continuing as scheduled following the incident. Delta Air Lines has assured its commitment to passenger safety and is cooperating fully with the FAA’s inquiry.
