DGCA Probes False Hijack Alert on Air India Flight.

Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu said any changes to existing aviation security norms will be considered only after the DGCA completes its investigation into a false hijack alert involving an Air India flight.

Flight AI2030, operated by a Boeing 787-9 from Frankfurt to Delhi, was diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday morning following the alert. The aircraft landed safely at Jaipur International Airport with around 293 passengers and 13 crew members onboard.

The flight resumed its journey after security checks. Naidu said authorities must first establish exactly what happened before deciding whether changes to security procedures are necessary. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is currently investigating the incident.

Speaking at Pawan Hans’ 42nd Raising Day event in New Delhi, the minister also highlighted the need for the helicopter operator to expand its fleet within a defined timeframe and explore opportunities involving electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and seaplanes.
