easyJet has officially launched its first African base at Marrakech Menara Airport, marking a major milestone in the airline’s expansion strategy. The new base includes three stationed aircraft and comes as the carrier celebrates 20 years of operations in Morocco and 20 million passengers carried in the region.

The launch event was attended by key figures including easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis, Moroccan National Tourist Office head Achraf Fayda, and National Airports Office director Adel El Fakir, highlighting the strategic importance of the expansion for both aviation and tourism sectors.

Alongside the base opening, easyJet announced six new routes for Winter 2026, strengthening connectivity between Europe and Morocco. New services include flights from Prague, Newcastle, and Zurich to Marrakech. Additional routes from Nantes to Essaouira, as well as from Bordeaux and Birmingham to Agadir, will be introduced soon.

The move reinforces easyJet’s long-term commitment to Morocco as a key leisure destination, with expanded routes expected to boost tourism and regional connectivity while supporting the airline’s growing international network.
