HondaJet Overruns Runway In Japan, All Safe

A HondaJet HA-420 overran the runway while landing at Yao Airport on Thursday, but all four people onboard escaped without injuries.

According to the Osaka Aviation Bureau, the aircraft landed around 5:30 p.m. local time before running beyond the runway end. The jet broke through the airport’s perimeter fence and came to a stop outside the runway area.

The aircraft had arrived from Narita International Airport and was operated by the Tokushukai Group, one of Japan’s largest hospital operators. The aircraft is used to transport medical staff to remote islands and regional hospitals.

Those onboard included the pilot, a doctor, and two other passengers. Emergency teams responded, but no injuries were reported.

The cause of the runway overrun is currently unknown. Japanese authorities are expected to investigate the incident, including possible operational, environmental, and aircraft-related factors.

The HondaJet has previously attracted attention due to several runway excursion incidents, although earlier investigations by Honda Aircraft Company found no design or system issues with the aircraft.
