IATA Launches Campaign Urging Passengers To Leave Bags Behind.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched a new global passenger-safety campaign reminding travelers to leave all personal belongings behind during aircraft evacuations. The initiative aims to reinforce a critical safety message as concerns grow over passenger behavior during onboard emergencies.

The campaign follows several incidents in which passengers were seen retrieving carry-on luggage or recording videos during evacuations instead of heading directly toward emergency exits. Aviation safety experts warn that even a single bag can create dangerous delays when every second counts.

According to IATA, carry-on luggage can block aisles, damage evacuation slides, and increase risks for both passengers and cabin crew. The organization is urging travelers to follow crew instructions immediately, leave all belongings behind, and avoid taking photos or videos during emergency situations.

The renewed focus on evacuation procedures highlights the challenges modern airlines face as increasing numbers of passengers travel with larger carry-on bags and mobile devices. IATA hopes the campaign will improve awareness and help ensure that aircraft evacuations remain as fast and safe as possible when emergencies occur.
