A major IndiGo flight from Delhi to Guwahati was forced to abort its scheduled landing at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Friday due to sudden adverse weather conditions.
The pilot initiated a go-around maneuver, a standard aviation safety procedure, after strong crosswinds and low visibility developed as the aircraft approached final descent. The flight circled the airport for approximately 20 minutes before making a safe landing on the second attempt.
No injuries or technical issues were reported, and all passengers onboard were safe. Airport authorities confirmed that the Air Traffic Control (ATC) had guided the flight throughout the process to ensure a safe outcome.
An official statement from IndiGo Airlines mentioned, “The safety of our passengers and crew is always our top priority. The decision to go around was taken by the pilot in line with standard operating procedures.”
Weather disruptions are not uncommon during the pre-monsoon season in the Northeast, and airlines remain on high alert during such periods.
