Istanbul Airport has been ranked the world’s most connected aviation hub in OAG’s Megahubs 2026 ranking, moving up from second place in 2025 and overtaking London Heathrow. The Turkish airport offers connections to 337 destinations worldwide.
Turkish Airlines plays a major role in Istanbul’s connectivity, operating around 80% of flights at the airport. London Heathrow ranked second, while Amsterdam Schiphol took third place. Kuala Lumpur International Airport remained the most connected airport in Asia, ranking fourth globally with 154 destinations.
The Asia-Pacific region accounted for eight of the world’s top 20 most connected airports. Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou Baiyun and Hong Kong International Airport also recorded notable improvements in the global rankings.
