Kenyan Flight Overruns Runway, No Injuries.

A domestic flight operated by EBB Air experienced a runway excursion after landing at Mandera Airstrip, with all 36 people on board escaping safely. The aircraft came to a stop in nearby bushes beyond the runway perimeter.

The Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia, registered 5Y-EBB, had departed from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport earlier in the morning, carrying 32 passengers and four crew members. During landing, it was unable to stop within runway limits and continued into vegetation.

Emergency teams from the Kenya Airports Authority and local police responded promptly, securing the area and assisting with evacuation. Despite visible damage to the aircraft’s nose, landing gear, wings, and propeller system, no injuries were reported.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, examining factors such as runway conditions, braking performance, weather, and possible technical issues. The airline, known for operating in remote regions, plays a key role in connecting underserved communities across Kenya.
