KLM Names First A350 After Rembrandt Masterpiece.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced that its first Airbus A350-900 will be named “The Night Watch,” inspired by the world-famous painting created by Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn. The aircraft is scheduled for delivery at the end of August 2026.

The arrival of the Airbus A350-900 marks a significant milestone in KLM’s fleet modernization strategy. The airline plans to use the next-generation widebody aircraft to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and enhance passenger comfort on long-haul routes.

Following delivery, the aircraft is expected to enter commercial service in September, with its inaugural flight scheduled between Amsterdam and Toronto. Passengers on the route will be among the first to experience KLM’s newest flagship aircraft.

Named after one of the Netherlands’ most iconic cultural treasures, “The Night Watch” reflects KLM’s tradition of celebrating Dutch heritage through its fleet. The Airbus A350-900 is set to play a key role in the airline’s future long-haul operations as it gradually introduces more aircraft of the type.
