All nine people aboard a Learjet 60 that crashed near West Palm Beach, Florida, on November 1, 2026, have been confirmed dead, according to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
The aircraft, registered as N722BD, departed Austin, Texas, and was bound for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when it crashed into a residential neighbourhood at approximately 12:50 p.m. local time. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following the incident.
Flight-tracking data reportedly showed the business jet descending approximately 27,000 feet in around one minute before the crash. The rapid loss of altitude is likely to be a key element examined by investigators as they work to establish the circumstances leading up to the accident.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether anyone on the ground was injured or killed. The impact in a residential area has raised concerns about potential damage to nearby properties and the safety of residents.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash. The cause remains undetermined, and further details are expected as investigators examine flight data, aircraft systems and other available evidence.
