Operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were disrupted after protests by Air India Air Transport Services Limited staff caused delays and operational chaos on Monday. Passenger services, including baggage handling and boarding operations, were significantly affected at the busy airport.

Air India and Air India Express confirmed that several flights experienced delays due to the disruption involving third-party ground staff. Long queues and slower processing were reported across multiple terminals as airport teams worked to manage the situation.

In an official statement, Air India said the operational impact was caused by “third-party staff action” and added that efforts were underway to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. The airline also apologized to affected passengers for the inconvenience caused during the disruption.

The incident once again highlighted the importance of ground handling services in maintaining smooth airport operations, especially at one of India’s busiest aviation hubs.
