Mumbai’s Terminal 1 is set for major redevelopment, with the Adani Group expected to begin demolishing part of the ageing terminal in January. The project aims to address safety concerns while expanding the airport’s passenger-handling capacity.
Mumbai International Airport, operated by Adani Airport Holdings, said the north section of Terminal 1B will be taken out of service during the first phase of the redevelopment.
The temporary closure is expected to affect around 5 million passengers annually as airport operations are adjusted during construction.
The redevelopment is part of Mumbai Airport’s broader efforts to modernize its infrastructure and prepare for growing passenger demand. Further phases are expected to transform Terminal 1 and improve the overall airport experience.
