QantasLink has received its first Embraer E190, registered VH-E9A and named “Exmouth,” in Perth, marking a major step in the airline’s Western Australia fleet renewal programme. The aircraft completed a 20-hour ferry flight from Norwich in the UK via Bulgaria, Tajikistan, India, Malaysia and Broome.
The E190 is the first of up to 14 aircraft that will progressively replace QantasLink’s ageing Fokker 100 fleet. The 100-seat jets are expected to offer improved fuel efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort across regional Western Australia operations.
Before entering commercial service, the aircraft will receive cabin upgrades including new seats, Wi-Fi, USB charging and Qantas Economy Plus. The first E190 is scheduled to begin commercial operations from January 2027.
