Qatar Airways Signs First Japanese Aircraft Leasing Deal.

Qatar Airways Group has signed its first Japanese Operating Lease with Call Option (JOLCO) transaction, covering three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The agreement marks the airline group’s entry into Japan’s aircraft financing market as it works to diversify its funding sources.

The transaction forms part of a broader financing programme planned to cover seven aircraft through three separate deals. HSBC acted as the sole lender and debt arranger, while Japan-based JP Lease Products & Services Co., Ltd. (JLPS) arranged the equity component.

The deal represents a strategic step in Qatar Airways Group’s financial expansion across Asia. By accessing Japan’s aircraft leasing market, the airline aims to broaden its financing options and build stronger relationships with international financial institutions.

The agreement also highlights the role of specialised aircraft financing structures in supporting airlines’ fleet investments while diversifying capital sources.
