A viral video featuring a 6ft 8in (203 cm) passenger struggling to fit inside an aircraft lavatory on an Air India flight has sparked discussions about limited cabin space and the challenges faced by taller travellers.
The footage was shared on Instagram by travel creators Raymond and Ramisa, showing Raymond attempting to use the aircraft bathroom. He struggles to enter and manoeuvre inside the compact space, eventually demonstrating that he has to leave the door open just to sit down.
The couple shared the video humorously, describing the bathroom break as a “full-body workout”. The clip has reportedly attracted more than 1.2 million views, with viewers reacting to the limited space available inside the lavatory.
Beyond the humour, the video highlights concerns about increasingly compact aircraft interiors, where airlines aim to maximise passenger capacity. Limited legroom, tighter seating arrangements and smaller lavatories can make flying particularly uncomfortable for taller passengers.
The discussion also raised questions about whether airlines or aircraft manufacturers are responsible for cramped cabin layouts. While Airbus and Boeing offer different cabin configurations, airlines have significant control over seating arrangements, galley layouts and lavatory options when configuring their aircraft.
