Southwest Airlines turned a routine journey into a memorable celebration as 102-year-old Dorothy Jane Nicholas marked her birthday onboard. The crew surprised her mid-flight with songs and a special cake, creating a heartwarming moment at 35,000 feet.

Fondly known as “Aunt Dorothy,” she is among the last surviving Rosie the Riveters who supported the war effort. During World War II, she worked polishing precision glass prisms used in military equipment, playing a vital role behind the scenes.

After the war, Dorothy built a long career with the Southern Pacific Railroad in San Francisco, where she worked for over four decades. In recent years, she has continued to travel and share her inspiring story with younger generations.

The celebration continued after landing, with passengers and crew gathering for photos, honoring a woman whose life reflects resilience, history, and inspiration across generations.
