Riyadh Air is moving closer to launching commercial operations, with its first two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners expected to be delivered within the coming days. The milestone marks another major step forward for Saudi Arabia’s newest national carrier as it prepares to enter the global aviation market.
The airline currently has four Boeing 787-9 aircraft ready for delivery, registered HZ-RXAA, HZ-RXAB, HZ-RXAC, and HZ-RXAD. These aircraft will form the foundation of Riyadh Air’s initial long-haul fleet and support the carrier’s ambitious expansion plans.
Meanwhile, three additional Dreamliners are undergoing flight and ground testing. One of the aircraft, HZ-RXAE, successfully completed its maiden flight on May 21, demonstrating continued progress in the airline’s fleet development program. The aircraft are expected to join the fleet ahead of the carrier’s commercial debut.
Production momentum is also continuing, with work set to begin on an eighth Boeing 787-9 in the near future. As more aircraft enter production, Riyadh Air continues building the fleet that will support its goal of connecting Saudi Arabia with major destinations around the world.
