Southwest CEO Surprises Passengers By Serving Snacks.

Passengers on a Southwest Airlines flight to Dallas were surprised to see the man handing out snacks and collecting rubbish was not a flight attendant—but the airline’s CEO, Bob Jordan.

According to passengers, Jordan walked through the cabin serving refreshments, helping collect trash, and interacting with travellers before later visiting the cockpit to speak with the flight crew. The moment quickly drew attention, but it wasn’t a one-time publicity event.

In an interview with The New York Times, Jordan explained that helping cabin crews has become part of his regular routine whenever he flies. He said he intentionally books an aisle seat so he can assist the crew and often wears a polo shirt or vest instead of a business suit to make it easier to work alongside employees.

Jordan joined Southwest in 1988 and has spent nearly four decades with the airline, holding 15 different roles before becoming CEO. He credits Southwest co-founder Herb Kelleher for shaping the airline’s customer-first culture, which emphasizes taking care of employees and treating passengers like guests.

The story has been widely praised online, with many travellers applauding the CEO’s hands-on leadership and willingness to work alongside frontline staff.
