Dubai International Airport has reportedly approved only one daily flight for Riyadh Air between Riyadh and Dubai, rejecting the airline’s request to operate up to four daily services. The approval represents just 25% of the capacity sought by Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier.
Riyadh Air is scheduled to launch the route on June 18, 2026, with a single daily flight connecting the two Gulf capitals. The airline had hoped to establish a larger presence on the high-demand route as part of its rapid regional expansion plans.
The decision comes as Dubai International Airport continues to face significant congestion and operational pressures, limiting the availability of additional slots for new services. Despite the restriction, the route will mark an important milestone in Riyadh Air’s growing network.
The airline is expected to continue pursuing expansion opportunities across the region as it prepares to build its position as a major player in Middle Eastern aviation.
