Southwest Airlines is entering the airport lounge market for the first time, announcing plans to launch a new lounge network in partnership with Chase. The airline is taking a major step toward expanding its premium travel offering.
Construction is already underway on the first four lounges at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu (HNL), and Nashville International Airport (BNA). Southwest expects to welcome its first lounge guests in late 2027.
The airline plans to add at least seven more lounges over the following several years, bringing the announced network to a minimum of 11 locations. Southwest has not yet disclosed the additional airports.
The lounges will feature locally inspired food, upgraded amenities and design elements developed with Chase. Southwest also plans to introduce a new premium Rapid Rewards credit card in 2027, which will include lounge access.
The move represents a significant shift for Southwest as the airline continues expanding its premium offerings and aims to attract more travelers seeking enhanced airport and onboard experiences.
